Venn Diagram
Venn diagrams are illustrations used in the branch of mathematics known as set theory. They show the mathematical or logical relationship between different groups of things (sets). A Venn diagram shows all the possible logical relations between the sets."Five-set Venn diagram using congruent ellipses in a radially symmetrical arrangement devised by Branko Grünbaum. Labels have been simplified for greater readability." [Venn diagram. Wikipedia]

Multi Layer Venn Diagram. Venn Diagram Example
To visualize the relationships between subsets of the universal set you can use Venn diagrams. To construct one, you should divide the plane into a number of cells using n figures. Each figure in the chart represents a single set of, and n is the number of represented sets. Splitting is done in a way that there is one and only one cell for any set of these figures, the points of which belong to all the figures from the set and do not belong to others. The plane on which the figures are represented, is the universal set U. Thus, the point which does not belong to any of the figures, belongs only to U.Venn Diagram Examples for Problem Solving. A Venn diagram, sometimes referred to as a set diagram, is a diagramming style used to show all the possible logical relations between a finite amount of sets. In mathematical terms, a set is a collection of distinct objects gathered together into a group, which can then itself be termed as a single object. Venn diagrams represent these objects on a page as circles or ellipses, and their placement in relation to each other describes the relationships between them. The Venn diagram example below visualizes the the class of language inclusions described by the Chomsky hierarchy.

How to Create a Venn Diagram in ConceptDraw PRO
Venn diagrams were invented by John Venn as a method of depicting relationships between different components. A Venn diagram consists of two or more circles. Each circle represents a specific group or set. The entities which are depicted by circles generally have some common characteristics. A Venn Diagram shows all the possible logical relations between these entities. Any properties that belong to more than one set should be indicated in the sections where the circles overlap. A Venn Diagram can be useful to visually summarize the status and future viability of a project. ConceptDraw PRO allows you to make a Venn diagrams using the Venn Diagrams solution.3 Circle Venn Diagram. Venn Diagram Example

"A Venn diagram is constructed with a collection of simple closed curves drawn in a plane. According to Lewis, the "principle of these diagrams is that classes [or sets] be represented by regions in such relation to one another that all the possible logical relations of these classes can be indicated in the same diagram. That is, the diagram initially leaves room for any possible relation of the classes, and the actual or given relation, can then be specified by indicating that some particular region is null or is not-null".
Venn diagrams normally comprise overlapping circles. The interior of the circle symbolically represents the elements of the set, while the exterior represents elements that are not members of the set. For instance, in a two-set Venn diagram, one circle may represent the group of all wooden objects, while another circle may represent the set of all tables. The overlapping area or intersection would then represent the set of all wooden tables. Shapes other than circles can be employed as shown below by Venn's own higher set diagrams. Venn diagrams do not generally contain information on the relative or absolute sizes (cardinality) of sets; i.e. they are schematic diagrams." [Venn diagram. Wikipedia]

"Sustainable development is an organizing principle for human life on a finite planet. It posits a desirable future state for human societies in which living conditions and resource-use meet human needs without undermining the sustainability of natural systems and the environment, so that future generations may also have their needs met.
Sustainable development ties together concern for the carrying capacity of natural systems with the social and economic challenges faced by humanity. As early as the 1970s, 'sustainability' was employed to describe an economy "in equilibrium with basic ecological support systems." Scientists in many fields have highlighted The Limits to Growth, and economists have presented alternatives, for example a 'steady state economy', to address concerns over the impacts of expanding human development on the planet." "A Venn diagram or set diagram is a diagram that shows all possible logical relations between a finite collection of sets. Venn diagrams were conceived around 1880 by John Venn. They are used to teach elementary set theory, as well as illustrate simple set relationships in probability, logic, statistics, linguistics and computer science." [Venn diagram. Wikipedia]
