How to Create a Class Hierarchy Tree Diagram

The class hierarchy tree is used to classify object types in object-oriented programming. The class determines the state and behavior specific to the objects of this class. Graphically, the hierarchy of classes can be depicted as a tree wich shows hierarchical relationships between classes. The top of the hierarchy is a single base class, and all other classes occur from it forming the hierarchy tree structure as deep as required.

Since the mind map has a hierarchical structure with one center, this makes the mind map an ideal tool for developing the concept of class hierarchy structure. Using the ConceptDraw Class Hierarchy Tree solution enables developing hierarchical tree-structured mind maps in ConceptDraw MINDMAP with the ability to automatically generate Class Hierarchy Tree in DIAGRAM.

1. Run ConceptDraw MINDMAP.
2. Sketch a Class Hierarchy structure for your future web page in an arbitrary mind map view.
3. Use the “Tree Bottom” or “Tree Top” arrangement tool available in the Arrange panel. This step is optional. You can apply it to make the mind map structure similar to a tree.

4. Reveal the Class Hierarchy Tree item in the Solutions panel.
5. Click the Topic Type section — the possibility to assign the Class Tree Node topic type becomes available.

6. Select the mind map topics and assign them the DOM Tree Node topic type using the Topic Type panel.

7. Select the Export option in the DOM Tree item in the Solutions panel. Choose a certain export type depending on the desired alignment of the diagram (vertical top-to-bottom, or horizontal left-to-right).
8. Click the Generate button.

Result: The Class Hierarchy Tree will be generated and opened in ConceptDraw DIAGRAM.
