How to Create a VSM Diagram Using Solutions

Value Stream Maps show for a manufacturing plant the material and information flow required to deliver a product to customers. Value Stream Mapping uses a flow diagram to document in great detail every step of a manufacturing process. This graphical representation of a process is a powerful tool that helps in the diagnosis of process efficiency and allows companies to develop improved processes. Many lean practitioners use Value Stream Mapping as a fundamental tool to identify waste, cut process cycle times, and implement process improvement. Many organizations use value stream mapping as a key portion of their lean efforts. The ability to depict and improve the flow of material and information using a Value Stream Mapping principle is delivered by the Value Stream Mapping solution. This solution extends ConceptDraw DIAGRAM with the library that contains 40 vector shapes for drawing Value Stream Maps (VSM).

1. Run ConceptDraw DIAGRAM.
2. Reveal the Value Stream Mapping item in the Solutions panel.
3. Click the library preview to activate it on the Library panel.
4. Add the VSM icons to the diagram by dragging them from the library to the document page.

5. You can add or remove a row in date boxes using the Action button menu. To open the menu select an object and click the  button in the upper right corner of the object.

6. Add a description. To add text to an object, select it and start typing. Polish text appearance using the text tools.

Result: The Value Stream Map heps to analyze and design the flow of materials and information required to bring a product or service to a consumer.
