How to Create a Register of Project Stakeholders

Using mind maps is a valuable tool in the case of project planning. They are ideal for performing brainstorming sessions, structuring information visually, and thus afford a full overview of project data.

Project managers and project team members, sponsors and customers, in a word, those who are interested in the result of your project — they are all stakeholders in your project. Making a list of project stakeholders will help you to determine the way they can influence project workflow and how you can engage them in the project implementation process.

Using the ConceptDraw PM Mind Maps and Tables solution you can create a stakeholder register structured mind maps in ConceptDraw MINDMAP.

  1. Run ConceptDraw MINDMAP.
  2. Reveal the PM Mind Maps and Tables item in the Solutions panel.
  3. Open a blank mind map or use the Stakeholger Register mind map template as a starting point.
  4. project-stakeholders-mind-map
  5. Add sub-topics representing stakeholders categories involved in the project, such as project team members, customers, executives, sponsors, etc.
  6. Divide these categories using next-leveled topics until you get to the names of real persons.
  7. Click the Topic Type section — the possibility to assign the related topic types becomes available.
  8. project-stakeholders-mind-map
  9. Select the mind map topics and assign them the topic type "Stakeholder" using the Topic Types & Data panel.
  10. Add the contact information of stakeholders using the data section of the panel.

  12. Use the options provided in the Share menu to deliver your mind map to colleagues that could potentially complement it.

  14. Update the Stakeholders Register throughout the project flow and save it for potential reuse in the next projects.

Result: You can share your project mind maps with stakeholders, edit them in real-time, and even export them to other formats such as Word documents or slideshow presentations.
