Value Stream Analysis

ConceptDraw Value Stream Maps are used in lean practice for analysis of manufacturing processes to identify the improvement opportunities.
"Value Stream Mapping (VSM):
– Special type of flow chart that uses symbols known as "the language of Lean" to depict and improve the flow of inventory information. ...
Value Stream Mapping ...
Provide optimum value to the customer through a complete value creation process with minimum waste in:
– Design (concept to customer);
– Design (concept to customer);
– Build (order to delivery);
– Sustain (in-use through life cycle to service)." [courses.washington.edu/ ie337/ Value_ Stream_ Mapping.pdf]
This sample Value Stream Map shows how customer value is created in the steps of manufacturing, production control, and shipping processes.
This VSM example was created using the ConceptDraw PRO diagramming and vector drawing software extended with the Value Stream Mapping solution from the Quality area of ConceptDraw Solution Park.

Value-Stream Mapping for Manufacturing

Create value stream maps - for value stream analysis and value stream management, material and information flow mapping, using our quick start templates included with ConceptDraw.

Value Stream Management

The Value Stream Mapping solution found in the ConceptDraw Solution Park continues to extend the range of ConceptDraw DIAGRAM into a business graphics tool that can be used to document processes in any organization.

Data Flow Diagram Model

Data Flow Diagram (DFD) is a technique of graphical structural analysis, describing the sources external to the system, recipients of data, also logical functions, data flows and data stores that are accessed. The DFD's goal is to show how each process converts its inputs into the outputs and to identify relationships between these processes, at this make the system's description clear and understandable at every level of detail. Historically happened that for describing Data Flow Diagrams are used two notations - Yourdon and Gane-Sarson that differ each from other by graphical representation of symbols. The DFD model, like most other structural models is a hierarchical model. Each process can be subjected to decomposition on the structural components, the relationships between which in the same notation can be shown on a separate diagram. Typically, several DFD models are built when modeling the system. ConceptDraw DIAGRAM software enhanced with Data Flow Diagrams solution ideally suits for creation DFD models and professional drawing Data Flow Diagrams.

The new Value Stream Mapping solution found in the ConceptDraw Solution Park continues to extend the range of ConceptDraw DIAGRAM into a business graphics tool.
"Value stream mapping is a lean management principle used to analyze and design the flow of materials and information required to bring a product or service to a consumer. Pioneered by Henry Ford in the 1920s, perfected by Toyota. At Toyota, it is known as "material and information flow mapping". It can be applied to nearly any value chain. ...
Value stream mapping has supporting methods that are often used in Lean environments to analyze and design flows at the system level (across multiple processes).
Although value stream mapping is often associated with manufacturing, it is also used in logistics, supply chain, service related industries, healthcare, software development, product development, and administrative and office processes." [Value stream mapping. Wikipedia]

Value Stream Mapping Symbols

VSM symbols are the best for a production process designing. The entire Value Stream Mapping method uses a graphical representation of the manufacturing process, factors' pros and cons, that all stakeholders can easily understand. Value Stream Mapping is a graphical technique that provides possibilities to improve analysis of a manufacturing process, at the stage of the transferring information or materials that required to deliver a product or service to the customer.

"Value stream mapping (VSM) refers to the activity of developing a visual representation of the flow of processes, from start to finish, involved in delivering a desired outcome, service, or product (a “value stream”) that is valued by customers. In the context of government, a value stream could be the process of conducting an audit, completing a procurement, or hiring new agency staff. VSM can increase understanding of actual decision-making processes and identify sources of non-value-added time (e.g., documents waiting to be reviewed). The typical products of a 2-5 day VSM workshop are a map of the “current state” of targeted processes and a “future state” map of the desired process flow and an associated implementation plan for future process improvement activities." Quality Engineering Diagrams

Create Quality Engineering Diagrams (value stream maps) - for value stream analysis and value stream management, material and information flow mapping, using our quick start templates included with ConceptDraw.

Quality Management

Quality management is what most of the managers, who are responsible for the product development and production, should know. It ensures that some particular product (or service, or even an organization) is consistent. Quality management has four main components, which are quality planning, quality improvement, quality assurance and quality control. Being focused not only on either product or service quality but also on the available means to achieve it, quality management uses both quality assurance and control of the processes and products in order to achieve the needed quality.
